This one is for real. My daughter Lyric is turning 10. T-E-N. Oh. My. Gosh. Where does the time go? I feel like I'm barely an adult, and still fighting to be responsible and all that... and my baby girl is 10! So, keep an eye out for another fabulously overdone and craft-crazy soiree coming soon from me. Baby bedding you just can't buy in stores! After completing the <span style="background-color: white;"><a href="http://lybly.blogspot.com/2012/04/something-new.html">Chain Linked quilt</a> a couple of months ago</span>, we searched far and wide for the perfect baby bedding to complete the full room and just couldn't find anything that fit the Mommy's taste just perfectly. <span style="background-color: white; text-align: -webkit-auto;">I wanted something a little less traditional for the piping, so I found some 1" wide flat element, with the piping in the upholstery section of the fabric store. I sewed square pockets out of the brown organic polka dots fabric and slid the piping into the pockets, then attached the piping to the bumpers. I especially liked this technique because it eliminated the need for sewing/tucking the piping into the sides of the bumpers. The piping is only on the tops and bottoms of each bumper measured to the exact width of the final bumper size.</span></div>

The ties are double-sided. I cut very elongated triangular pieces of the organic dots fabric and the dandelion fabric. Placed them right side matching and sewed three sides of the ties. I then had to turn each inside out (a wooden spoon worked best) and iron them flat. Love the way these turned out!

Since this was my test run at bedding, I failed to snap photos of my process... but if there are any elements that anyone would like to see a photo tutorial of, I would love to hear from you! I would love to have an excuse to do this all over again!<br />
<br />
Bedding retails for such insane amounts and doing it yourself just adds so much originality you could never buy in stores! I love the final product we came up with and hope dearly that I get the opportunity to do this for many more babies-to-be (and mommies- and daddies-to-be)!<br />

I organized and hosted a baby shower for an absolutely amazing couple this weekend. To understand their story, is to understand why this shower had to reach simply amazing proportions. And, I am pleased to say I think that we achieved just that! Baby Evangeline "Eva" Walker Norwood will be joining this world very soon, but for now, let's just enjoy the day we had to cherish the excitement that the mere thought of her gave to all of us.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
Our theme was a "Southern Summer Night Soiree." Baby's colors are greens and browns. Mommy is from Mississippi. We tried to narrow in on treats and goodies that fit our theme. Our appetizer menu included a veggie garden, marinated mozzarella sprigs (with sundried tomato and rosemary), prosciutto bites (slices of pear, red pepper and havarti sprinkled with black pepper, wrapped in prosciutto), ham rolls, spinach rolls and a mouth watering summertime dip, we named backyard dip for out purposes.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
<div>
The sweet station included: apple and buttermilk pie; blackberry and peach cobbler; cherry chocolate and red velvet mini cupcakes; lemon, butterscotch pecan and raspberry bars; peach pecan pound cake; petit fours; fruit, cheese and herb skewers; and a big batch of mixed fruit skewers, Drinks were the classic southern selections of lemonade and sweet tea, with some special mixed drinks for guests who wanted something a little stronger.</div>
<div>
<br /></div>
All our antique decor was borrowed from family and friends to add the beautiful vintage touches; including antique fruit crates, strawberry baskets, mason jar lights and many antique treasures. The flowers stole the show, however, with arrangements spiced up with cotton bowels and green apples.<br />

The boys got to go down on another side of the yard for their own little area for cigars, galvanized tubs full of beer and a Baggo tournament, while the ladies stayed for the presents. While the men competed for a gift card, the women played a game of their own for another gift card. Upon arrival, the greeter tied a small ribbon around each ladies wrist that had 3 safety pins on it. Every time you were caught saying the word "baby," the person that called you out could take a safety pin off your bracelet. The winner was the person that had the most safety pins by the end of the shower/present opening. Definitely a fun and simple little game!</div>

<br />
I've gone into the party planning business! (Well... Temporarily) I'm planning a huge baby shower bash for my bestie and loving every minute of it. The theme of our soiree is 'A Southern Summer Night.' I know it doesn't take much imagination to know you will be seeing a lot of mason jars and wooden crates, but I hope I can stretch it as far as possible!<br />
<br />
But, before I get too carried away with the details, we had to get the invitation out. What southern party wouldn't give you ample time to prepare to attend, right? So, to kick off the theme, we put together this layered invitation using kraft cardstock, scrapbooking paper, and linen paper to print on. The tags are the same materials, with the addition of using scrapbooking sheets of burlap and a cotton honeycomb textile, my favorite!<br />

And, now that the invites are in the mail and the guest list is growing, I have to shift my focus. I've already met with the florist, now on to food and sweets... the best part right? Anyone have any ideas on southern themed finger foods that would win everyone over? Would love to hear some ideas!</div>

I received a custom order for a quilt in my "Modern Brick Road" pattern and am just happy to be able to share the photos of the final product. The buyer and I worked together and found the SummerLove collection by Pat Bravo. I selected fat quarters from that collection that fit the color palette she wanted and this is the result! I think it turned out very cute! </div>

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">In a blog post quite some time ago now, I alluded to the work I was doing on this quilt. Now, I am so excited to get to show it off! A friend of mine who is expecting and I began a search for the perfect pattern for her baby room. I found the Chain Linked pattern by Amy Smart at <a href="http://diaryofaquilter.com/">Diary of a Quilter</a> and thought it was a beautiful modern quilt pattern that fit the fabrics we had already chosen beautifully! We were aiming for a gender neutral approach at the time and I was absolutely sold on this pattern when I stumbled across Lee at <a href="http://freshlypieced.blogspot.com/2010/10/modern-meadow-baby-quilt.html">Freshly Pieced</a>'s take on this pattern. The offset of white/offwhite was a perfect fit!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRfVDhYuX4orQKxiAqfqQ1BYscSOtdf1uFOF_9TLREqs0obN__YRpTlHQKzF5gXjB0IJpt1ihDe1-DZi-vwRFgQApr6f7lMbcJMBuBgmAs6I_EMk3ZwCWVEAi5s0sLOftafstN7CYDHULe/s1600/Picture+014.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400px" qda="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjRfVDhYuX4orQKxiAqfqQ1BYscSOtdf1uFOF_9TLREqs0obN__YRpTlHQKzF5gXjB0IJpt1ihDe1-DZi-vwRFgQApr6f7lMbcJMBuBgmAs6I_EMk3ZwCWVEAi5s0sLOftafstN7CYDHULe/s400/Picture+014.jpg" width="300px" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">The final size of the quilt completed at approximately 60" x 70". We used Kona in bone for the not-quite-white and a cream with white polka dots fabric for the main portion of the quilt. All other fabric selections we chose at our local <a href="http://hancocksfabrics.com/">Hancocks</a>, including the adorable fabric that I used for the reverse side of the quilt. I absolutely love the dandelion-like print... it makes me happy every time I look at it! It was the perfect choice for a modern baby/child quilt selection! Love it.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">On another note- and another little "something new"... The Bare Forest Print by Etsy shop, <a href="http://prissdesigns.etsy.com/">PrissDesigns</a> - was such an inspiration and I just had to see if I could make it into a quilt. <div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">This was also my first try at machine stitched binding. Although, I do not prefer it over hand-stitched (hand-stitched is just astoundingly beautiful as the finishing touch on a quilt), I was impressed by how easy and quick it is... so definitely a wonderful alternative that I will use again and again!</div><br />

</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">And, when its all said and done, this quilt was filled with trial and error and lots of little flaws, but that's what makes it so fun. I had never done curvy line quilting, so that was an experience. And, I love the quilting I chose to do, but I learned a key lesson about the 1-2" inch rule for quilting... definitely makes the cleanliness alot trickier. I also think the limbs are a little wonky (ok, ALOT... especially the very weird low green branch) and would spend alot more time getting the tree shapes just right next time around. I free handed the fabric cuts that created the shapes and all the stitching this time around.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I would love to remake this quilt again with all my learnings and spend a bit more time getting it perfect... and sell it in my <a href="http://lybly.etsy.com/">Etsy shop</a>. Finally finished binding the newborn quilt I mentioned a few weeks ago. I think it turned out quite adorable and just had to share! <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: -webkit-auto;"><br />
</div>It is a wee one for the wee one, measuring only 25"x30". I found an image of a quilt utilizing the pattern online, and after doing some deep searching so that I could source the design/pattern properly, I located it <a href="http://www.modabakeshop.com/2011/10/baby-lattice-quilt.html">here</a>. The pattern is for a larger end product (36" x 48").<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZquYsbpoHUz7oR1FiQjNGt3ngKP-XsJrjBVGXqok0FARgmJETiT8g-RtmhjlV8_BnIN9W8u4L6jLR4n55fIEH9z_8vs8vzLvW-ir7SUThkebo7h4BUDKOR7c0HfQrLuI22rs-qPwqZ89z/s1600/photo-16.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhZquYsbpoHUz7oR1FiQjNGt3ngKP-XsJrjBVGXqok0FARgmJETiT8g-RtmhjlV8_BnIN9W8u4L6jLR4n55fIEH9z_8vs8vzLvW-ir7SUThkebo7h4BUDKOR7c0HfQrLuI22rs-qPwqZ89z/s400/photo-16.jpg" width="316" /></a></div><br />
<div class="" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I chose to do a newborn size, because I am utilizing the same fabrics in another much larger quilt as well for the same expecting mommy. Still don't know the sex of the baby yet, so mommy chose a very gender neutral palette that we ran with.</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

</div><div>Oddly enough my favorite part turned out to the back because I absolutely love the contrast of the "Bone" colored Kona Cotton binding the <a href="http://www.hancockfabrics.com/Sage-Green-Zig-Zag-Pattern-on-White-Cotton-Fabric-General-Search_stcVVproductId140324291VVcatId544586VVviewprod.htm">sage green zig zag</a> fabric. And, that was the first fabric we started with... Kinda set the tone for the whole soon to be collection. :)</div>LyBlyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05997880368597147032noreply@blogger.com1tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3557661416066437252.post-58638034107838012422012-02-20T14:13:00.000-08:002012-02-20T14:13:25.652-08:00A Little VictorySo, I must confess... I have not made much progress on all my endeavors here lately. Well, actually, I am making progress, I'm just not 'finishing' like I'd like. Here is my one little victory: Baby Changing Pad<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEio0yl7iWETITGvtNOmMpFER2FFiSyeyGFCYm9a9jzW2-YTegI-QncoWGLzQPTqJVcMcFhiRGFKFnYI_-wNdEadVRhF861auo_9gJGZuiee0SU9HOSme7qVfBW5LxdPbqvXo2H3qaP7-Bsu/s1600/photo.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEio0yl7iWETITGvtNOmMpFER2FFiSyeyGFCYm9a9jzW2-YTegI-QncoWGLzQPTqJVcMcFhiRGFKFnYI_-wNdEadVRhF861auo_9gJGZuiee0SU9HOSme7qVfBW5LxdPbqvXo2H3qaP7-Bsu/s400/photo.jpg" width="376" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">I know its a small victory, but it is a victory none the less. And, I do think its pretty darn cute for a newbie at this like myself. I have the matching quilts to these fabrics nearing the finish line. A newborn size one that needs the binding finished. And, a child-size one that still needs to be basted and quilted. But, as I have many changes happening in my life right now (career and family-wise), I think I will soon find myself with ALOT more available time to do these crafty little things I enjoy so much. Stay tuned!</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />

My unfinished or "in progress" items are driving me crazy today, so I'm using this platform to get my thoughts and these items in order. Goal for the coming week/weekend: Finish, finish, finish!<br />
<br />
<br />
<ul><li><b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #7f6000;">Quilt #2</span></b> - I've started piecing together (as shown above) a crib-size version of the Chain Linked pattern by Amy Smart at <a href="http://diaryofaquilter.com/">Diary of a Quilter</a>. A very dear friend of mine is pregnant and it is too early on to know the sex, but for many reasons we are too excited to wait to get started on baby 'stuff'. So... she and I went and chose a handful of gender neutral fabrics that she liked for her baby room. I chose to use this pattern when I stumbled across Lee at <a href="http://freshlypieced.blogspot.com/2010/10/modern-meadow-baby-quilt.html">Freshly Pieced version of the pattern</a>. The offset of white/offwhite was a perfect fit for mommy's fabric selections, so I couldn't wait to get started! <b>The Delay: </b> Since we put the cart before the horse and purchased the fabrics before choosing a pattern, I'm stuck until a reorder arrives in the mail. Grrr. I'm chomping at the bits!</li>
<li><b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #7f6000;">Quilt #3</span></b> - To use the remaining fabric from Quilt #2 (and just cause I wanna), I've decided to do a newborn size quilt. I've found the pattern I'm going to do, but I've got to locate the source before I can share. <b>The Delay:</b> Same as above.</li>
<li><b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #7f6000;">Diaper Changing Pad and Clutch</span></b> - I've already cut the fabric for this project, which I'm super excited about! I looked at a few patterns online to get inspiration for the construction, but I couldn't find anything that was quite what I had in mind. <b>The Delay:</b> I've got to find/locate some vinyl sheeting material. Any ideas here?? I know I can find anything online, but I'd really like to just pick it up at a local store. Patience is not my friend these days.</li>
<li><b><span class="Apple-style-span" style="color: #7f6000;">Coffee Table/Bench Refurb</span></b> - I had this coffee table that had moved around with me from place to place for the last ten years. It was very modern and cool at the time, but after having kids... (it had glass and sharp edges) I stopped using and it just stayed stashed in the garage all these years. Part of the glass doors and top had broken, so I have done a great deal of work recently to repurpose it. I'm done with the sanding and the painting, but the next step is to make a pillow top seat. I'm converting it into a bench! I've bought the upholstery fabric and everything... <b>The Delay:</b> I need a piece of wood cut to upholster the pillow/fabric to and it will be complete. That's all! </li>
</ul><div>So, you see, I have now put these goals out into the world. That means I have to get them done, right?!? </div><div><br />
</div><div>Well, I'm going to pretend it does. :)</div>LyBlyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05997880368597147032noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3557661416066437252.post-40769391917432334482012-01-20T15:06:00.000-08:002012-01-20T15:06:01.735-08:00My 1st Quilt - Finished!<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgs30J_jvHkrfZcseHwrQh2496Wnm-tjpPPEmetQtZ_Wd3oXLKZJ4q6XCile644s0COKdLHljerN7dEiOTHmx-DKa32wQycIQrFEnckljYVLApi67c7HkWHUk0uCPhGtsrlrHn13U152NX7/s1600/photo-11.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgs30J_jvHkrfZcseHwrQh2496Wnm-tjpPPEmetQtZ_Wd3oXLKZJ4q6XCile644s0COKdLHljerN7dEiOTHmx-DKa32wQycIQrFEnckljYVLApi67c7HkWHUk0uCPhGtsrlrHn13U152NX7/s400/photo-11.JPG" width="312" /></a></div><br />
Ta-da!! My very first quilt! I am seriously addicted now and could not stop until I got it completed, and have about ten others I want to get started on immediately! New things are fun.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiAoElA_1pISSj-XlqN2kSlxqITTJAjUR4HReZmEQ9GoqF85izPy8BnX200e-CTKPhy1M6EN6mAVpQluHwA_OcAnHyjwNmYnl2sJjWsLr65_1zZ2ZRKULpqmCj0mC4G0ch1ZvFWs53H6kBY/s1600/photo-14.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: left; float: left; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiAoElA_1pISSj-XlqN2kSlxqITTJAjUR4HReZmEQ9GoqF85izPy8BnX200e-CTKPhy1M6EN6mAVpQluHwA_OcAnHyjwNmYnl2sJjWsLr65_1zZ2ZRKULpqmCj0mC4G0ch1ZvFWs53H6kBY/s320/photo-14.JPG" width="244" /> </a></div>As I mentioned before, I found a brick pattern idea while skimming online (and unfortunately did not keep the link). It was for tiles, so I altered it into a strip to run the length of the quilt. I then chose some antiqued white fabric to finish it off. <b>The finished size is 81"x 88".</b> Since I didn't use a pattern I chose the size of the bricks to be 6"x3". Making the strip 18" wide.<br />
<br />
On the back (which I did not for some reason get an image of), I repeated the 18" horizontal strip in the green damaske fabric I used for the binding. When I completed the quilt top and back, I moved on to basting (which I must say was quite a challenge... I totally commend you guys who have it down pat because it was a beast!). It being the first time I attempted this, I probably should not have been so aspirational to plan for the 18" strip to fall directly behind the brick path on the front. I used about a gazzilion pins to make it work! I then stitched the outside and the vertical lines in the bricks with clear threading, "stitch in the ditch" I guess is the term. Then repeated the vertical lines in the bricks throughout the extent of the quilting. I then used a wonderful little <a href="http://www.heatherbaileydesign.com/HB_QuiltBinding.pdf">tutorial</a> by Heather Bailey to hand stitch the binding. And, voila!<br />
<br />

Although, I have always considered myself a very artistic and crafty person (who thinks everything she does is sub par, LOL), I have never in my life used a sewing machine! No home economics in school, no 4-h, and no one to teach me the trade. [Note: My mother is a self-professed failure with anything you might have learned to do in home economics.] And, when I make my jewelry or anything with fabric, I have always hand-sewn.</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">Well, at Thanksgiving, my aunt handed down to me this little beauty.</div><br />
<div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhuavZWtBEzn10dS4f29QkAMG22nQDNqDt39oZ6Rd5cmhc4LvSSQQBrjAAh-YgmLBmPGpS0KYEIKj48BUCnK85NLYO5NMz7TQHPhU6K0l6Hopik25BlKXGmljSG60IZdI5Kh3Z8pRzRxjrJ/s1600/photo-14.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhuavZWtBEzn10dS4f29QkAMG22nQDNqDt39oZ6Rd5cmhc4LvSSQQBrjAAh-YgmLBmPGpS0KYEIKj48BUCnK85NLYO5NMz7TQHPhU6K0l6Hopik25BlKXGmljSG60IZdI5Kh3Z8pRzRxjrJ/s400/photo-14.JPG" width="316" /></a></div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;">Believe me, I completely understand if you cannot help but drool. She is beautiful! Its a Singer Featherweight from approx. 1950 from what I can find online. And, it works perfectly! Although, it took me nearly 2 months to test drive it for fear of the damage I might inflict.</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;">To add to my intense desire to sew on a machine for the first time, I had an equally intense desire to make a quilt. Again, for fear of not being able to fumble my way through it, I bought some pre-packaged fat quarters (didn't want to spend an arm and a leg on a failed attempt) and found an idea for a pattern online. To make things just a wee bit scarier... I decided to attempt the initiative blind-faith. I didn't use a pattern. I just used the idea and modified it. And, decided to go big. I mean, why bother with small? If you're gonna fail, fail big, right!?</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: left;">So, here is a first glimpse at my little endeavor.</div><div align="left" class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh5XT9dtIZm5vLBBUpQP0oe5lok7etzxyTX0jmfr4EoOfA39QfqnwDMjo4e7cpoG1Rvv2n2xiD1BqzbO5Mx9bse6ZCshGgo1el_dCA68kcfQ3lUW6binxULXei89GFLQm9k5gbX8oc9WPXx/s1600/photo-11.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="306" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh5XT9dtIZm5vLBBUpQP0oe5lok7etzxyTX0jmfr4EoOfA39QfqnwDMjo4e7cpoG1Rvv2n2xiD1BqzbO5Mx9bse6ZCshGgo1el_dCA68kcfQ3lUW6binxULXei89GFLQm9k5gbX8oc9WPXx/s400/photo-11.JPG" width="400" /></a></div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">I'm just so stinking proud, I cannot contain it! Remember what I told you... I have never sewed before... ever! I know I'm being silly, forgive me. ;)</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSz6-ODy1B4BVmnQO4h8jvaoiomM1983rbYknEYzmSnr25LJPLaU8U2Q8eKVTQWFvd2eY_-GUGZD8x-NHV4aPn9ZocFJerMN1XEYSsG7Uq6b0bcqExtMwKO0LjsxmX7qe3DQYIVozg4fS5/s1600/photo-12.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiSz6-ODy1B4BVmnQO4h8jvaoiomM1983rbYknEYzmSnr25LJPLaU8U2Q8eKVTQWFvd2eY_-GUGZD8x-NHV4aPn9ZocFJerMN1XEYSsG7Uq6b0bcqExtMwKO0LjsxmX7qe3DQYIVozg4fS5/s400/photo-12.JPG" width="300" /></a></div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">I have completed this portion that is 18" wide by 87" in length. I plan on framing the brick pattern 'strip' with a solid fabric, so that it lays off center. I will have achieved a full-size quilt if I succeed!</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">The next steps terrify me, but I'm already addicted so I know I will keep plugging along and hope for the best! Any words of encouragement? </div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;"><br />
</div><div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">I will post my progress as it comes. (And, probably, several more attempts in the future!)</div><div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;"><a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh5XT9dtIZm5vLBBUpQP0oe5lok7etzxyTX0jmfr4EoOfA39QfqnwDMjo4e7cpoG1Rvv2n2xiD1BqzbO5Mx9bse6ZCshGgo1el_dCA68kcfQ3lUW6binxULXei89GFLQm9k5gbX8oc9WPXx/s1600/photo-11.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="clear: right; cssfloat: right; float: right; margin-bottom: 1em; margin-left: 1em;"></a></div><div style="text-align: left;"></div>LyBlyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/05997880368597147032noreply@blogger.com0tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3557661416066437252.post-74941403003018918202011-03-10T14:57:00.000-08:002011-03-10T14:57:44.347-08:00Oh My! I simply do not have enough to say. And/or I get all weird about if my tone will be too 'poor pitiful' or 'depressive', so I just refrain from writing altogether. Its alot easier to help on the <a href="http://aretsy.blogspot.com/">AREtsy blog</a>, because there is just so much information and talent there to work with. ...Which is why I was inspired to post the image above. To say 'hello' to my small group of people and let everyone know I'm here...<br />

It is actually strange how excited I am about it. It is just such a far-cry from the last year of searching for a good job, only to lock in on a job that I dreaded going to every hour of every day. <br />
<br />
But, aside from being unusually giddy about trying my hand at this new venture... I'm also a bit enthusiastic to prove they made the right decision. The reason: last week was the most awkward nightmare-ish first week of an employment possible. (I started on a Tuesday.)<br />
<br />
Day 1: I was so sick. You can't call-in on a first day of work, can you? I thought not. So, instead, I pumped myself full of cold-medicine and tried to be the trooper and go in with a smile. It was terrible. In the short instances that I could talk in between hacking coughs, I felt like the plaque. And, who wouldn't love being introduced to a room full of people with sick eyes and no voice?<br />
<br />
Day 2: Arkansas gets a blizzard. Hmm. Guess I'll wake up and call the CEOs cell phone to let him know I can't make the hour commute. Seriously?!<br />
<br />
Day 3: No one is going anywhere. No biggie there. The office is closed. Relief.<br />
<br />
Day 4: Takes me 4 hours to drive there, so I'm extremely late, but I'm there. Miracle! I get to work part of the day. Converse like a normal human being. At least there's a glimmer of redemption. Jeeze.<br />
